Blarrghh.

Though apparently not everyone is experiencing August the same way as me, this is the slowest August of my entire life. What is normally the month that flies by the fastest has been crawling by at a snails pace. I am going to blame shitty weather, not partying enough at Fringe and job dissatisfaction for this. Oh yeah not to mention the first week of August was my last week of summer school.

I just can't wait for school and derby to start again so I only have to be here half a day and I have a reason to leave the house a few nights a week. Blaarrghh.

Yesterday I went through my closest and got rid of sooo much junk. Then Erin came over and took her pick of my recycled clothing. I put some of the nicer items away for the clothing swap our junior league is hosting on October 2nd. My next task: organize my entire office. I have a plan for rearranging the furniture but since it's going to involve taking everything off of my bookshelves I might as well go through it and get rid of a whole bunch of shit. This means there may be a pile of books and comics on the "free bench" in my lobby the next couple of days. (Take note, Erin!)

Even though there is actually nothing wrong with my job, it pays decently and is very accommodating of my school and sports schedule.. I still can't help but want to leave. This is pretty much how I feel about every job I have after about 8 months or so. I can't really justify leaving to go back to serving tables. However, if I can find something similar but more in line with my interests, I am so out of here.

Bike accessories!

Last night myself, Halen, Buffy and Mike put new handlebar tape on my bike. YES, the four of us. Though Mike did the actually wrapping and the rest of us handed him scissors and plugs or held the bike up it was an excellent group effort, resulting in my bike looking really fucking sharp. The red tape matches the red striping on my frame, so awesome! So far I have spent $13.00 (tape and a new bell) on my free bike, and it is treating me very well!
Of course all of this happened after watching True Blood and eating espresso fudge on vanilla ice cream. DELICIOUS.

I've been extremely productive at work today which mean it was time for me to waste an hour before I go for afternoon coffee. My work has gotten busier and busier and I've still been stuck in the same mode I was before our program opened and I sat here and read celebrity gossip all day. I still have a lot of down time but there is significantly more work for me to do. Not so much where I don't have time to tweet and blog and do homework, muah haha.

Tonight is my first training committee meeting, I'm excited! I've been drawing up a draft plan for an 8 week (1 night a week) program for new skaters to go through before they join the "Raw Zombies" (our fresh meat team). The idea is that we host the program twice a year and close the league to new members otherwise. I figure it will allow us to give them special attention when they are learning to skate and the basics of the game. Then they will be able to join regular practices without having to sit out of any drills. I hope the committee likes my plan!

Bah!

I actually do not miss my class AT ALL. Soo much work. Where did my summer go? I spent every beautiful day in a basement studio making mediocre art. I got a B, which I am not thrilled with but agree with. Even though I worked 1000x harder in the second half of the class the projects were a lot more difficult and my work just wasn't as good. My portfolio review lasted less than a minute. I just wanted out of there. There are a few things I wish I would have asked but......... meh!

Usually I don't buy my textbooks until a week or so into the class to make sure I am not going to drop it. But I've noticed it puts me immediately behind in the readings and then I never end up doing any of it.. and I have never even dropped a class either...So I already bought most of my textbooks and have started reading the first couple chapters of them. I feel like such a keener. My film studies book is really cute.

I made a blog for my new team <3 BERZERKHERS! We're vikings. It's really exciting. I can't wait for our uniforms (which I really hope turn out as well as I think they will) to arrive and then we can do some team photos. I thought it would be a fun idea to do individual photos in front of an van with some sort of awesome scenery airbrushed onto it.

WWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

About a week left of my art class. I'm going to miss it, I think! Even my grumpy teacher who yells at us about how terrible we are at drawing elipses when he doesn't have enough coffee or cigarettes or is on his period. We just finished painting which I am fairly terrible at. We started sculpture today and this is our project:
Using one kind of object, at least 50 times, build a solid cube. Cube must be 6x6" and held together by only one kind of binder. (I'm using syringes, and it looks fucking badass, let me assure you.)
Then for our final project we have to create 5 2-d pieces based on our sculpture. Anyone have any neat ideas about what I could draw, paint, charcoal involving syringes? I would really like to do a silkscreen for one of them. If I can get an image done up maybe I could convince Kenny to show me how to burn a screen and stuff this weekend.. but we will see!

I've been so focused on my art class I pretty much have ignored everything else. I haven't gone for a skate or a run or anything. I'm going to be in rough shape when the season starts up... which is in no time. NO TIME.

We are having a fun outside scrimmage downtown on the 14th. I hope it doesn't rain! I'm also considering volunteering for a pick-up team that is driving to Kelowna for a game the same weekend. HMM! I miss roller derby.
