Oh Christmas. Always so fleeting.

In other news, if anyone sees my boyfriend can you tell him to charge his phone. Seriously.

new favourite winter hobby

A couple of days ago at work Lesley, Cody and I got an undeniable urge to go ice skating. None of us had been in years, and none of us owned skates.. but we were determined to go skating at the legislature grounds that same evening!!
I finished work last that day, so the kids met me back at the store at 7 and we grabbed mochas and headed to our first stop- Value Village. Only Cody was able to find a pair to fit him and after Lesley and I left a couple of more thrift stores we headed to Zellers to find the cheapest pair of figure skates we could. AND WE DID! 35 dollars, nice!!
Unfortunately at this part of the adventure Cody had to meet up with some other friends for dinner. But Lesley and I were still determined!! We walked through the pretty lights and past the ice sculptures and finally found the ice rink!! We took our brand new skates out of their boxes and laced up! Everyone kept commenting on our brand new skates.. they were still in the shopping bags so it was pretty obvious we had boughten them just for the occasion.
We caught on to the whole skating thing surprisingly fast, and I didn't fall! And Lesley only fell once!! I was skating fast and doing crossovers after about 5 minutes... I couldn't even ever do crossovers when I used to skate all the time as a kid. (I thank roller derby for mah skillz).
WE HAD SO MUCH FUN WE WENT AGAIN YESTERDAY!! And Cody got to come this time! I practiced going backwards.. but I still can't stop! NEXT TIME!

I want to skate everyday for the rest of the winter!

LAUNDRYMERGENCY!

One of these days I'll have to take a vacation where I actually relax. Or have a day off that isn't dominated by errands and laundry.

This morning I almost fell out of my chair a couple of times because I kept dozing off at the desk. It's not my fault the only time I get to do laundry is 2 in the morning! Of course the dryer is broken too.. so I have to hang EVERYTHING. I should do laundry more often than every few months. OH GOD LAUNDRY IS CONTROLLING MY LIFE!!

My bus home from work yesterday smelt unmistakably like celery salt.

great fun of mammoth proportions

I've been working at the museum for the past little while and though I can't say it is always the most...exciting place to work it's definately the best fucking job I could ask for. I pretty much just sit on the internet all day, but I'm being well compensated for my time! VERY WELL!

There is definately a fair amount of crazy people that come in though. Weird bug people. Or animal skull people.

There was one woman who called over and over again trying to get a hold of the bug guy and became angrier and angrier until I started transferring her to random people until she got through to someone.. the botanist I think. She ended up showing up at my desk with a spider in a tupperware container.

People always think they have something thats worth something. They'll bring in random crap they find in their attics like this is the god damned Antiques Roadshow or something.

The archives used to be located in the same building so I've had to deal with irate old ladies pissed off I can't help them complete their family trees.

But these people make my job hilarious, and give me and the rest of the admissions staff good stories to exchange. One of the weekend security guards steals me cookies from government house too! Did I mention I am WELL COMPENSATED FOR MY TIME? Right now, your tax dollars are paying me to write this.

It does get boring though, that is why next weekend everybody in town should come during our free admission days (Dec.6th-9th) and save us all from 4 days of picking our noses and eating all the cake.

Did I mention there is cake?
