In-TENSE.

I've already spent 7+ hours on homework for my art class this week. That's about what I spend on homework for an entire class during the fall or winter semester. There is no way I can get through this class by 'winging it'.

BUT I am realllly enjoying it. The projects are really interesting and the instructor is pretty great. I can already see improvement in my drawing, and I am 1000% more wary of composition. We had our first critique which was not bad at all even though the initial idea of having my classmates pick apart my pieces was really scary to me.

Today I volunteered with a few other girls from the league to pedal a bike powered stage a part of SOSFest. We signed ourselves up immediately because we love bike riding completely overlooking the inherent DIRTY FUCKING HIPPIE FACTOR. The music was fairly terrible. We had some delicious Caribbean food after at Irie then biked over to Victoria Park for our league wrap up party. I won the smelly award 2 years running. I feel that it was unjustly awarded this year, however, the trophy has a golden fucking cheese wedge on it so I have placed it in prime display real estate next to Yoda on the toy shelf. Then I found my last years smelly trophy and rockstar trophy to put beside Freddie Mercury on the adjacent shelf. Now I want more trophies!!

I jogged to school today to pick up some supplies from the art studio only to discover that the doors lock at 6 on weekends!!!!! My determination and sneakiness found me an alternate route through a service elevator in HUB. I am resourceful and BASICALLY Mata Hari. Eat it HUB security!!

Remember playing parachute games in kindergarten?? Like when you run around under a giant parachute and hide in it and stuff? We totally had one at the park and it is still fun but seemed a LOT smaller than it did when we were 5.

Summer school!

So in total I wore dresses about 20/30 days of June. This is a huge feat for me considering I wouldn't wear a dress until I hit 20. It was probably at least 15 more dress days than I would normally have in the summer months and about 20 more than in the winter (long johns, pants, thick socks, boots...).

I kind of feel like the fist stage of summer is over. I had my last month of derby (and our travel team ended our season undefeated), my little brother graduated and my older brother and his fiancee visited. I worked, worked, worked in an attempt to get my summer class tuition paid for before I started it (unsuccessfully). There were bike rides, out of town friend visits and a baseball game. It was a good month.

July will be a little harder. My mornings are no longer flexible, I can't roll into my class at 10:30 like I can at the office. I have a very strict strength and endurance goal to meet before the season starts up again at the end of August. I am committing myself to hockey on Tuesdays, running stairs 2-3 times a week, aiming for 100 consecutive good form push-ups, roller skating or biking to work and school EVERYDAY!!

Also, if the first day was any indication this "FUN ART CLASS" is going to be super intense and hardwork.

BRING IT ON, JULY!!
