This weekend was almost perfect. It was seriously so awesome. It is a strong contender for best weekend of the summer, and so early too!!
Saturday a bunch of us gals represented E-Ville and skated in the pride parade. So much fun! The road was pretty crappy so I got lots of good practice dodging cracks and potholes, which will come in handy on the track. I didn't wear a dress/skirt during this. I know, I know. The only one that would have been appropriate I wore to practice on Thursday and that would have meant REPEATING. Don't worry, after skating around downtown for a couple of hours (making sure to check out the 104st block party, why can't we do that every weekend??), and hanging out on Trina's stoop I went home to put on a dress before we went to the baseball game.
You can see a pretty great group shot of us at the game at Trina's blog, The Daily Dress. We all had a little too much fun at the baseball game, and Justine and I continued to have way too much at the Garneau Pub afterwards. We had intended to take our bikes to the 24hr Bike Repair-a-thon but by the time we picked my bike up from my old place it was about 2am and we were in NO SHAPE for a bike ride. Justine went home and I started to walk my bike home but a friendly cab driver insisted on giving me a ride, SCORE! My feet were killing me from wearing my skates for so long that day and walking down and up the giant hill to and from the game that I was pretty relieved to get home.
Sunday morning I got up early, showered, put on a cute Alice in Wonderland dress and then my hangover hit me like a ton of bricks. I crawled back into bed intending on having a short nap before Critical Lass but I ended up sleeping until 5. I was pretty bummed to miss the ride but hopefully another one happens soon! (Maybe every month while the weathers nice... ladies??)
When I finally did get up I was STARVING so I grabbed a neat little art history book I borrowed from Justine (From Bauhaus to Our House... GREAT read so far if you are at all interested in art history or modern architecture) and treated myself to breakfast/lunch/dinner at Da-De-O. Going to resteraunts by myself and reading is one of my favorite things. I went on a mini adventure afterwards, checking out the new Shoppers Drug Mart (needed face sunscreen badly!!) and got an espresso milkshake from Remedy. By the time I left Remedy I was on the cranky side because it took so long and the clientele in there drive me nuts. But then I convinced Tyler to drive me to Coral and Teds to watch the True Blood premiere! AWESOME! Of course Coral had a great spread out (smokies, asparagus, salad, carrot cake, ice cream coffee, awesome). We had a nice hang out after the show, it was an all-round excellent evening.
DOWNSIDE: I slept so much yesterday I couldn't fall asleep for the life of me and now I'm half asleep at my desk.
